Common issues with chainsaws and their solutions

The main components of an electric saw are the four most important ones: the cylinder, the carburetor, the chain, and the guide plate! The most crucial aspect is the quality of these four main parts. Different manufacturing processes and materials result in significant differences. Please refer to the following picture:

a: From the table above, it can be seen that the proportion of poor product quality due to natural wear and tear is higher than that of damage caused by wear. You get what you pay for. Consumers must not only look at the price when purchasing products. Remember this!

b: Before purchasing, inquire about the warranty and maintenance of the electric saw. The warranty period for different components varies.

c: Imported brand electric saws: Stiebel Electric Saw, Komatsu Electric Saw, Husqvarna, etc. The average price of imported electric saws is around 3,000, while the average price of domestic electric saws is between 1,000 and 2,000.

Description of the chainsaw: 

A chainsaw, also known as an oil saw, is a portable saw powered by an internal combustion engine, mainly used for logging and wood processing. Its working principle is to perform cutting actions through the lateral movement of the interlaced L-shaped blades on the chainsaw. 

Characteristics of the chainsaw: 

A: A lightweight and low-pollution chainsaw, equipped with Euro II emission technology.

Usage scenarios: Used for forest logging, timber processing, pruning branches, and other operations, as well as timber processing at storage yards. 

Safety precautions for using an electric chainsaw: 

Before using the chainsaw, you must carefully read the instruction manual and operate it strictly in accordance with the requirements stated therein, in order to ensure the safety and longevity of the product. 

2. During the installation process of the guide plate chain, pay attention to its tightness (by pulling the chain with your hand, the distance between the chain and the guide plate should be 1 centimeter). Otherwise, it will affect the usage effect. 

3. The typical ratio of gasoline to engine oil is 25:1. The recommended type of engine oil is the Shenglu Pu brand two-stroke special oil. 

4. When using the chainsaw for the first time, the machine must be turned on for 5 minutes before it can be used normally. 

5. After the chainsaw is started, it is necessary to wait until the guide bar chain is lubricated with oil before commencing operation (the oil pump starts to supply oil). 

6. The chainsaw may experience loosening of screws due to transportation. Before use, please adjust according to the instructions. Generally, it is not recommended to disassemble the machine. 

7. The carburetor must be cleaned thoroughly after every 100 hours of use before being put back into service. 

8. The air filter must be cleaned thoroughly after eight hours of use. 

9. If the chain becomes dull, it should be replaced immediately or be filed smooth before being used again. Otherwise, it will affect the performance and lifespan of the chainsaw. 

10. When not in use, it is best to store the chainsaw in a plastic bag to prevent dust and moisture from entering the machine and affecting its operation. 

11. After using the chainsaw, the fuel and oil in the fuel tank must be completely cleaned up. 

12.25F chainsaw's maximum guide plate chain configuration is: 12 inches; 45F chainsaw's maximum guide plate chain configuration is: 18 inches; 52F chainsaw's maximum guide plate chain configuration is 20 inches; 62F chainsaw's maximum guide plate chain configuration is 22 inches. Configurations beyond this range may cause the machine to overheat, resulting in engine shutdown, affecting the machine's performance and lifespan (for models above, it is beneficial to reduce the guide plate chain by 2 inches each when used in summer). 

The use of oil products

A chainsaw requires the use of gasoline, engine oil and chainsaw chain lubricant 

1. Only unleaded gasoline of grade 90 or above can be used. When adding gasoline, the area around the fuel tank cap and the fuel filler opening must be cleaned before refueling to prevent any debris from entering the fuel tank. The chainsaw should be placed on a flat surface with the fuel tank cap facing upwards. During refueling, make sure no gasoline spills out and do not fill the fuel tank too full. After refueling, tightly screw the fuel tank cap by hand with all your strength. 

2. Only high-quality two-stroke engine oil should be used to ensure a longer lifespan of the engine. Do not use ordinary four-stroke engine oil. When using other two-stroke engine oil, its model should meet the TC grade quality standard. Poor-quality gasoline or engine oil can damage the engine, gaskets, oil passages and the oil tank. 

3. Mixing of Gasoline and Engine Oil  Mixing ratio: For engines using high-limb saws, use the two-stroke engine oil specifically for such engines in a ratio of 1:50, that is, 1 part of oil to 50 parts of gasoline; for other engines meeting the TC standard, use the engine oil in a ratio of 1:25, that is, 1 part of oil to 25 parts of gasoline. The mixing method is to first pour the engine oil into an oil tank that allows fuel to be added, then fill in the gasoline, and mix thoroughly. The gasoline and engine oil mixture will age, and the general amount should not exceed the usage for one month. Special attention should be paid to avoiding direct contact of gasoline with the skin and avoiding breathing the volatile gases of gasoline. 

4. Use high-quality chain saw chain lubricant and keep the lubricant level above the minimum mark to reduce wear on the chain and teeth. Since the chain saw lubricant will be completely discharged into the environment, ordinary lubricants are petroleum-based and non-degradable, which can pollute the environment. It is recommended to use biodegradable eco-friendly chain saw oil. Many developed countries have strict regulations on this to avoid environmental pollution. 

Repairing of the chainsaw 

Maintenance steps for the chainsaw: 

A: Adjust the oil needle again. For the L needle, tighten it and then loosen it by half a turn. For the H needle, tighten it and then loosen it by half a turn. 

B: Release the air to allow fuel to flow out of the carburetor. 

C: Pull the spark plug a few times. If it doesn't ignite, remove the spark plug and check if there is any oil on it. 

D: If there is oil on the surface, it indicates a problem with the circuit (replace the spark plugs, or if the problem persists, replace the coil assembly) 

F: If there is no oil, it means the oil passage is blocked (check the fuel tank cap, the fuel pipe filter, whether there is any blockage inside the carburetor, the one-way valve, whether the cylinder has been pulled out, and whether the oil seal is leaking)
