Daily Use Precautions for Earth Auger Machines

I. Preparations Before Operation

Fuel Ratio

For two-stroke models, strictly use the standard mixture of fuel and oil. Pure gasoline or pure engine oil must not be used. Incorrect proportions can easily cause cylinder seizure and damage to the engine.

Whole Machine Inspection

Check that the drill bit, drill rod, and fixing screws are firmly attached without any looseness; the gearbox has no oil leakage, the clutch is normal; the oil pipe is free of aging and cracking.

Accessory Inspection

The blade should be sharp without any curled edges or cracks. Replace it promptly if it is severely worn; the accelerator and ignition switch should be sensitive and functional.

Site Survey

Check underground water pipes, wires, and gas pipelines in advance, avoiding obstacles; clear stones, tree roots, and hard soil clumps.

Personal Protection

Wear safety shoes, tight clothing, anti-slip gloves, and protective goggles. Do not wear loose clothing or slippers for operation.

II. Startup Procedures

Place the machine flat on a stable surface, suspend the drill bit off the ground, and keep it away from people before starting.

Cold Start: Close the air intake door before starting. Start slowly and gradually open the air intake door to preheat the engine at idle speed.

Prohibition of High-altitude Start: Do not start the machine from a height or pull the starter forcefully. Avoid breaking the rope.

III. Key Points of Operation

Drilling Method

Align the point precisely and slowly press down vertically. Do not forcefully press down or drill obliquely to prevent bending of the drill rod, breakage of the drill, and injury from the machine rebound.

Depth Control: Slowly lift the drill after reaching the depth. Gently increase the throttle while lifting to dislodge soil. Do not forcefully pull out.

Handling Obstacles: Immediately release the throttle and stop the machine if encountering stones or tree roots. Do not forcefully drill; avoid engine stall and damage to the gearbox.

Double-person Operation: For large-diameter and high-power underground drilling machines, two people must stabilize the machine. Single-person operation is prohibited to prevent injury from twisting and swinging.

Engine Speed Usage: Use medium throttle for soft soil, high throttle for hard soil. Do not work at full throttle for long periods to avoid overloading the machine.

Prohibition of Sideways Drilling: Keep the hole vertical. Sideways drilling is prone to break the drill rod and damage the transmission shaft.

IV. Safety Prohibitions During Operation

Hands and feet must not approach the rotating drill bit during operation. Do not use hands to clear soil.

Do not stand within the operation area. Prevent soil and stone fragments from flying and injuring people.

Prohibition of operation under the influence of alcohol, fatigue, minors, or pregnant women.

Prohibition of using in rainy weather or on slippery ground to avoid slipping and injury, and to prevent engine water ingress.

Prohibition of drilling at people, livestock, or the doors and windows of houses.

V. Shutdown Procedures

First, fully withdraw the drill bit from the ground. Then, idle the machine for a few seconds to cool down.

Turn off the ignition switch to stop the machine. Do not forcefully shut it down.

After stopping, stabilize the machine to prevent the drill bit from falling and injuring people.

VI. Daily Maintenance and Care

After each use

Clean the drill bit and drill rod of dirt and debris, and clean the air filter dust.

Regular Maintenance

Regularly add grease to the gearbox to ensure lubrication of the transmission; replace the spark plugs regularly.

Storage of Fuel

Try to empty the mixture of fuel and oil after use on the same day. Avoid oil quality deterioration and blockage of the oil passage during long-term storage.

Storage of Drill Bits

Apply engine oil to the blade to prevent rust and place it flat to prevent the drill rod from bending and deforming.

Heat Dissipation Protection

Clean the debris on the cylinder body's heat dissipation fins in time to avoid high temperatures causing cylinder seizure.

VII. Prohibited Items

Prohibition of私自modifying the engine speed， extending the drill rod， or modifying the blade.

Prohibition of refueling or operating in flammable and explosive areas.

Prohibition of idling at high speed for a long time to reduce machine wear.

Prohibition of starting the machine with abnormal sounds， shaking， or oil leakage immediately and stopping for maintenance. Do not operate with a faulty machine.
