How to Maintain Garden Machinery in Winter 

Before using the garden machinery, it is necessary to carefully read the manual to understand the structure and working principle of the machinery, so as to use and maintain it better. 

Note: Differentiate the number of strokes of the machine. 

I. Usage and Maintenance of Four-Stroke Lawn Mowers 

1. Use unleaded gasoline of grade 90 or above. Never use leaded gasoline, blended gasoline or polluted gasoline. (Note: Refueling should be done outdoors. Smoking is strictly prohibited while the engine is running. Refueling is not allowed during engine operation.) It is recommended to use engine-specific lubricating oil for garden machinery. Four-stroke motorcycle oil is strictly prohibited. 

2. Before using the new lawn mower, it must be run for 2-3 hours for initial running-in. For every 45-60 minutes of running, the machine needs to be shut down for 5-15 minutes. After the running-in process is completed, the engine oil must be replaced and new oil added. The amount of oil added should not exceed the upper limit indicated on the scale, but must not be lower than the lower limit. Before each use, the oil level must be checked. The engine oil should be changed once every 30 hours (it is best to do this while the machine is hot). 

3. After each use, check the filter element. The machine should have its paper filter replaced or cleaned and its sponge filter washed every 30 hours. In case of severe contamination, it is necessary to clean or replace the filter element in advance. 

4. The machine should be shut down for 5 to 15 minutes every 45 to 60 minutes of operation. After each use, the engine and chassis of the machine should be cleaned. 

5. It is strictly prohibited to use it on slopes with an inclination angle greater than 25°. Due to the excessive slope angle, the oil splash wheel cannot reach the oil, which may result in cylinder seizure (or locking). 

6. Before using the machine, it is essential to clear all debris in the lawn, such as stones, bricks, iron wires, wooden stakes, sprinkler heads, steel pipes, and other objects. 

Safety first! The three key points for maintenance: "Check the oil, clean the filter, and clean the chassis." 

II. Usage and Maintenance of Two-Stroke Hedge Trimmers, Lawn Mowers and Chainsaws 

1. Use gasoline of grade 90 or above. It is recommended to use two-stroke gasoline engine-specific lubricating oil for garden machinery. Pure gasoline must not be used. 

2. This machine uses a mixture of gasoline and engine oil as fuel. The specific ratio of specialized garden machinery oil is 25:1 or 50:1 (depending on the quality of the oil). 

3. Before using the new machine, it must be run for 1 hour. Every 20-30 minutes of operation, the machine should be shut down for 5-10 minutes. 

4. Every 20 hours of use, you must replenish the grease for the gearbox, transmission, and working head, etc. 

5. Every 40 hours of use, it is necessary to check whether each screw is loose. If any screw is loose, please make sure to tighten it. 

6. Before using the machine, the work area should be cleared to prevent any stones, wires, or other debris from being present and potentially endangering the safety of operation. 

7. Maintenance of hedge trimmer blades: Regularly (every 25 hours) check the gap between the upper and lower blades and adjust it in time (the gap is the half-turn pitch of the bolt), to keep the blade edges sharp. Add engine oil to the blade every hour of operation, and trim branches with a diameter of less than 10mm. 

8. Maintenance of the blade head of the brush cutter: The nylon rope head should be kept at a length less than 15 cm. When using the blade, ensure its balance and minimize the vibration of the handle. Never use a blade with vibration when the vibration is significant. 

Safety first! The three key points for maintenance: "Add mixed oil first, add butter second, and clean the filter and blade third." 

III. Winter Maintenance of Lawn Tractors 

1. Drain all the gasoline, start the engine and wait for it to automatically shut down. Then replace the engine oil with SAE 10W-30. 

2. Remove the spark plug, add 20 milliliters of engine oil. Install the spark plug, but do not connect the spark plug yet. Let the piston rotate for 2-3 circles to clean the entire machine and the cutter disc. Apply some oil to the metal parts of the body to prevent rusting. 

3. Add some butter to the buttered pan. 

4. Remove the battery, fully charge it, and then place it in a dry and cool place. Charge it every 4 to 6 weeks. Before using it again, please recharge it first. 

5. Store the machine in a dry place. 

IV. Other Notes: 

The working conditions of all machines must be fully optimized. 

2. If the machine makes abnormal noises, vibrates or experiences any malfunction, please notify the dealer immediately. 

3. During maintenance and repair, when moving the machine, the engine should be stopped and the spark plug wiring should be disconnected. 

4. It is strictly prohibited for minors to use it. Do not place your hands or feet near the moving parts, especially the blades. As a result, there have been many incidents of problems occurring. 

5. When the machine is tilted, it should tilt to one side with the filter element on top. 

Safety first! Three key points: "People come first, maintenance is more important than repair, and everything must be done seriously." 

V. Winter Maintenance (Long-term Maintenance, Storage Period Exceeding 30 Days) Precautions: 

Release the gasoline in the fuel tank, then start the gasoline engine until the gasoline is exhausted and the engine stops. 

2. In the hot engine state after just stopping, first drain the oil from the crankcase, and immediately add new oil to the appropriate level. 

3. Remove the spark plug, pour 5-10 milliliters of engine oil into the cylinder, rotate the crankshaft several times, and then reinstall the spark plug. 

4. Clean the cutter disc, the body, the cylinder block, the cylinder head heat sink, the air deflector, the mesh cover, and the surrounding dust and debris. 

5. Prevent freezing: At the end of each day's operation or when the machine is to be parked for a long time, ① let the engine run at a low throttle for about 10 minutes to allow the engine temperature to drop to around 50 degrees Celsius. Then drain the coolant (or replace the coolant with antifreeze) to prevent the engine from freezing. (For multi-cylinder water-cooled engines, after the coolant is drained, start the motor for 3-5 seconds to allow the water in the water tank to drain completely, but do not make the engine work.) ② All pumps and pump bodies must have the water drained completely and be cleaned to prevent cracking due to freezing in winter.
