What causes the chainsaw to shut off? 

In fact, there are several different scenarios when the engine won't start. It is important to understand the circumstances that cause the engine to fail to start. Understanding these will greatly facilitate the troubleshooting and resolution of the problem. 

First of all, let's talk about the basic maintenance approach for chainsaws: Understand the symptoms of the customer's product usage, and conduct a deeper inspection and judgment from three aspects based on the customer's description: the oil circuit, the electrical circuit, and the cylinder. 

Usage and symptoms include: * The time of the last use, the environment, and the conditions at the time of use. 

The oil circuit includes: carburetor, gasoline filter, oil pipe, balance device, oil pipe intake pipe, etc. 

The circuit consists of: magnetic flywheel igniter, coil/high voltage, spark plug. 

Cylinder: Piston, Piston Ring, Cylinder. 

Next comes the step of conducting inspections and repairs. 

Step1: We will directly manually operate the chainsaw to check the overall operation. At this point, based on the obtained information, we can determine: whether there is any jamming (for experienced personnel, they can directly determine whether there is compression or pull jamming), whether there are any abnormal sounds (which can indicate whether the magnetic flywheel and the crankshaft are damaged), and whether there are any problems with the starting assembly. And based on the relevant situation, we will replace or maintain the components. 

Step 2: Inspect the circuit. Remove the spark plug (the spark plug is located beneath the air filter cover), and check if the spark plug is caked with carbon and if the contact is normal. Make the discharge part of the spark plug touch the cylinder or be able to conduct electricity with the conductive part of the crankcase, and then pull the chainsaw. At this point, you can check the circuit, such as whether there is electricity, the size of the power supply, and whether the discharge interval is stable. This step can also check if the spark plug, coil, and igniter are functioning properly. 

Step 3: Use your fingers to block the exterior of the cylinder spark plug and pull the lever. This can be used to check if the cylinder has been pulled. Or remove the muffler and look at the piston at the cylinder muffler to see if there are any scratches indicating a pulled cylinder. 

Step 4: Inspect the oil circuit. Remove the carburetor and clean it. Adjust the carburetor pointer as necessary. Unscrew the fuel cap and inspect the fuel filter. Also check for any damage to the oil pipes, intake pipes, etc. 

Under normal circumstances, replacing or maintaining the faulty parts of the chainsaw will solve the problem. 

In addition, issues such as damaged oil seals, negative pressure tubes (balance air tubes), magnetic flywheels and crankshafts, crankcase, and balance devices are uncommon situations and should only be considered if the problems cannot be solved through the above steps.
