The usage method and maintenance tips of chain saw
The chain saw is one of the most widely used and frequently operated power tools in the field of garden machinery. Due to its sharp teeth and the fact that it is used for high-speed cutting of wood, strict safety precautions need to be taken when operating it.
1. Use reliable lubricating oil
It is recommended to use high-quality and environmentally friendly lubricating oil for the saw chain and guide plate, such as lubricating oil with strong anti-aging properties and rapid biological decomposition. If the anti-aging ability is low, the lubricating oil is prone to resinification, forming hard precipitates that are difficult to remove, especially around the transmission components of the saw chain, the clutch, and the saw chain itself. In severe cases, it can even jam the oil pump. Do not use waste lubricating oil. Waste lubricating oil does not have the required lubrication capacity and repeated contact with waste lubricating oil may lead to skin cancer. Waste lubricating oil can also damage the environment.
2. Always keep the saw chain lubricated
Lubrication of the saw chain and guide plate is extremely important for the use of the electric saw. Technicians say that the saw chain must always have a small amount of lubricating oil dripping out. Do not operate the saw chain without lubrication. If the saw chain rotates dry, the cutting tool will be damaged and cannot be repaired. Therefore, before starting work, it is necessary to check the lubrication condition of the saw chain and the oil level in the oil tank.
3. Regularly check the tension of the saw chain
Compared with saw chains that have been in use for a long time, new saw chains need to be tightened more frequently. Generally, in the cold state, the saw chain should mesh under the guide plate but still be able to be pulled along the guide plate by hand, indicating that the tension is correct. After reaching the working temperature, the saw chain expands and begins to loosen. It is not allowed for the transmission chain segments on the lower side of the guide plate to come out of the guide slot, otherwise the saw chain will come off. It is necessary to re-tighten the saw chain. When cooling down, the saw chain will contract. At this time, the saw chain must be loosened, otherwise the crankshaft and bearings will be damaged. The Coripp electric saw insists on choosing the best accessories and uses imported Oligen saw chains, significantly reducing the damage to the saw chain and extending the service life of the electric saw.
4. Details that should not be ignored
During the use of the electric saw, there are several operational details that users need to pay special attention to.
Firstly, when starting the electric saw, do not pull the starting rope to the end. Start by gently pulling the starting handle until it reaches the stop position, then quickly and forcefully pull, and press the front handle downward.
Secondly, after the engine operates at maximum throttle for a long time, it is necessary to allow it to idle for a period of time to cool the air flow and release most of the heat in the engine. This can avoid components installed on the engine (ignition device, carburetor) from overheating.
Thirdly, if the engine power significantly decreases, it may be caused by dirty air filters. Remove the carburetor cover, take out the air filter, clean the dirt around the filter, and separate the two parts of the filter, dust off the filter with your palm or blow it clean with compressed air. When reinstalling the air filter, remember to check if the position of the air valve and the torsion spring is correct.
5. Timely and thorough maintenance after use
The maintenance of the electric saw is of paramount importance regarding the saw chain. A correctly maintained and sharpened saw chain can easily cut into the wood with very little pressure. During daily maintenance, it is necessary to check if there are cracks and broken rivets on the saw chain links. Replace any damaged or worn parts on the saw chain and match them with new parts of the same shape and size. Hard alloy saw chains are particularly resistant to wear.
For electric saws that have been stored for a long time, empty the fuel tank and clean it in a well-ventilated place. Run the engine until the carburetor dries to prevent the diaphragm of the carburetor from sticking together. Remove the saw chain and guide plate, clean them, and spray anti-rust oil. Thoroughly clean the equipment, especially the cooling ribs of the cylinder and the air filter.
